Explore our packages and let your imagination run wild...

5 Reasons why Northern Escape Heli Skiing was Voted World’s Best 4 years running

Location, Location, Location

Tucked into BC's Skeena Mountain Range, just a stone's throw from Alaska, we get hammered by Pacific storms at a latitude that keeps the snow cold and dry — the result is one of the world's deepest, most reliable snowpacks and one of the longest heli-skiing seasons on the planet. The terrain here is big and wild—alpine bowls, immense glaciers, steep couloirs, and epic tree skiing. This is big-mountain, backcountry skiing and snowboarding at its finest. Our zones provide amazing options for first-time heliskiers and seasoned pros alike.

Big Terrain, Deeper, More Reliable Snowpack!

Snowcat Backup

Northern Escape is one of the only operations that has both helis & snowcats which will keep you skiing and riding in nearly any weather condition. Our backup snowcats are on standby, so guests can ride even on days when it’s dumping too hard for the helis to fly. Your holidays are short and the days precious, our Snowcat Backup is the best weather insurance you can buy.

We Ski and Ride More Here!

Small Groups & Unlimited Vertical

Not only do we fly in Small Groups, but we also only fly an industry-leading Semi-Private configuration at both Yellow Cedar and Mountain Lodges (the Skeena Spey Private is of course just your group in the heli). Add to that Unlimited Vertical and you’ll start to understand why we keep getting voted #1.

Less Waiting and More Skiing/Riding!

Save On Travel Time

Many of our competitors are a 4-to-8-hour bus ride away from the nearest airport. Not us! We're easy to reach from Vancouver International Airport by a 90-minute connecting flight to Terrace, BC. Once you arrive in Terrace, your ski lodge is only minutes away. Bonus - Your last day with us is a full day of skiing and riding, no half days here.

Less Time Traveling – More Time Skiing and Riding!

Choose from 3 Distinct Lodges

Three distinct mountain lodges with dining facilities and spa-like amenities to choose from. Meet new friends in a small group setting or enjoy a fully private tour. Pick rustic and charming or modern and chic. Northern Escape offers two shared lodge options and one private lodge: Yellow Cedar Lodge is our Value option, with space for 16 guests in your choice of single or double rooms; Mountain Lodge is our Premium option, hosting 10 guests, all in single rooms; and Skeena Spey Lodge is a private experience for groups of up to five, all in single rooms.

The World’s Best Lodging to Match the World’s Best Skiing!

Design your Experience

First heli-ski trip? 99th heli-ski trip? We've got great options for everyone. Ask yourself three key questions to begin your plans: when to come heli-skiing, how long, and where to stay. We've named our packages after our lodges since that's the main difference. Both Yellow Cedar Lodge and Mountain Lodge are designed for individuals and small groups, while the Skeena Spey Lodge is designed for fully private stays with your own guides, helicopters, chefs, and lodge staff.

1. Season

The climate up here isn't like your average ski resort — our northern latitude means a longer season than almost anywhere else on the planet, with deep, reliable snow from December through April.

Peak Season (January - March)

Endless Days (April)

2. Duration

At Northern Escape Heli-Skiing, guests have lots of choices for how many days they'd like to ski or snowboard. Plus, every day is a full ski day! This is a major difference between us and other tour operators. Because there's no long bus ride back to civilization (it's only 15-20 minutes back to Terrace, BC), the last day of your package is still a complete day.

Occasionally, we have 2-day packages available to fill in the gaps here and there. Great deals for people that are close by (Northwest Canada/USA).

This is popular for a quick getaway or introduction to heli-skiing. Guests usually come from Canada and the USA, where the time zone difference is minimal.

Similar to our 3-day tours, these are popular for Canadian and American guests who'd like a slightly more relaxed trip.

Our most popular package for both North American and European guests. Enjoy a full 5 days of skiing or snowboarding, with enough time to adjust to jet lag and time zone changes.

Usually only available for custom and private packages, 6-day trips are sometimes selectable for Yellow Cedar and Mountain lodges too.

Very popular with European guests who are travelling from farther distances. Allows plenty of time to unwind, ski a variety of terrain, enjoy a massage, wine & dine, hot tub, socialize, and repeat for a full week!

3. Accommodation

Yellow Cedar Lodge

Northern Escape Mountain Lodge

Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge

Yellow Cedar Lodge is NEH’s classic, value-forward accommodation: a warm Canadian log and timber chalet designed for guests who want comfort, character, and a social ski-lodge atmosphere without paying for luxury extras. The setting is relaxed and unpretentious, with single and double rooms, a downstairs bar, games area, sauna, outdoor Jacuzzis, massage options, fitness spaces, firepit, ski shop, and high-speed Wi-Fi. It feels welcoming, lively, and focused on what matters most after a day in the mountains: rest, recovery, and good company. It is the right fit for guests who want to keep the stay simple and put the emphasis on skiing

Mountain Lodge is NEH’s premium accommodation: a boutique fly-in alpine lodge with a more refined, contemporary feel, set deep in the mountains for a more immersive stay. Designed for guests who want a higher-end lodge experience, it offers all single ensuite rooms, a more intimate atmosphere, spa amenities with an outdoor hot tub and sauna, and elevated food and après touches that make the off-snow experience feel more polished. The included helicopter transfer adds to the sense of arrival, while the lodge’s mountain setting gives it a more private, exclusive feel. It is built for guests who want comfort, style, and a premium stay around the skiing.

Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge is NEH’s most exclusive accommodation: a private wilderness lodge reserved for one group, with a quieter, more tailored feel from arrival to departure. Set apart from the shared-lodge experience, it combines single-room accommodation with private gathering spaces, a fireplace lounge, sauna, games areas, fitness spaces, and dedicated support that includes concierge service, a culinary team, private bar staff, and a massage therapist. The atmosphere is calm, flexible, and fully custom to the group staying there. It is the best fit for guests who want privacy, exclusive use, and a lodge experience that feels completely their own.

Review by Andrew Marshall Photo Editor / The Ski Journal for Northern Escape Heli-Skiing

"Northern Escape’s wide variety of terrain, professional staff, and top-notch infrastructure provided an outstanding small group skiing experience. Despite a week straight of storms with over a meter of nonstop accumulation, Northern Escape kept us moving through safe and fun snow without a hitch. Our crew was able to stay productive every day of our visit and it made for some of the most memorable storm skiing I could have ever imagined."

Review by Mark Abma Pro Skier for Northern Escape Heli-Skiing

"NEH is the hidden Gem of the north. The alpine makes you feel like you’re in Alaska, but the tree skiing and pillows reminds you that you’re still in BC. Being close to the west coast coupled with being up North ensures that you’ll get heaps of good quality snow."

Review by Feet Banks Editor / Mountain Life, Coast Mountains for Northern Escape Heli-Skiing

"When you’re skiing the deepest snow of your life, the quality of terrain plays an integral role. John and Yvan guided us into the right terrain for the conditions run after run–the perfect steepness to maintain speed and plenty of features to have fun on. There’s no shortage of stormy-day tree lines and when the sun peeks out the alpine really delivers that remote, wild, northern perfection. I’m hooked."

Review by Alex Silgalis Founder / Local Freshies for Northern Escape Heli-Skiing

"Throughout the storm cycle, I sampled some of the best gladed backcountry terrain I’ve ever experienced. And when the clouds finally parted and the chopper could access the upper elevations – WOW! Rollers to jump off and waves to slash. Big open bowls to shred."
