About Northern Escape
Since 2004 Northern Escape Heli-Skiing has operated small group heli-skiing in Northern BC’s Skeena Mountains near Terrace, BC. Our premium heli experience, three boutique lodges, snowcat skiing backup and big mountain, deep powder terrain attracts riders from around the world.
We are active in our local community and one of the only carbon neutral heli-ski operations in the world. In recent years we have achieved significant growth in our business, opening two new lodges since 2020 alone.
Our mission is to become the premier, boutique heli-ski operation worldwide.

The town of Terrace is a great place to spend the winter. There are cozy pubs with great atmosphere and all the amenities you’ll need in this town of 14,600. Nearby Shames Mountain has been called the great antidote to today’s mega resorts and one of the most authentic, small town ski areas in North America. If you’re into ski touring, there’s enough slackcountry and backcountry available around Shames that will keep you busy for an entire season.
Nearby Smithers (only 2 hours away) is another fantastic ski town with Hudson Bay Mountain, and lots more backcountry to explore. The non-motorized Hankin-Evelyn ski area is one of the world’s first gladed, dedicated ski touring areas with access to alpine bowls, big terrain and a day hut and overnight shelter.
Terrace is renowned as having some of the best steelhead and fly fishing in the world in the Skeena River and its tributaries. In the summer months the mountains come alive with wildflowers, and wildlife like black bears, grizzlies and elk. Outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking and paddling are possible.
