2023 Heli Ski Season in Review

This past weekend we wrapped up our 2023 heli skiing season. For those of you who were guests this Winter, you know what an epic season this has been.

Here’s a brief recap of how the season went down. Back in November, we started off with a win at the World Ski Awards and then things just kept getting better.

We began our heli trips in early December (earlier than any other heli operation) with a deep base and phenomenal tree skiing. Storm after storm kept rolling in and adding more, and thanks to our snowcat backup program, we had only a handful of no-ski days all season. Mid-winter kept going strong, with a few bad weather days, as can be expected, but it was good times at all three of our lodges.

This season we had a challenging snowpack, with some weak layers we had to really keep an eye on, but our guiding team was able to keep our guests safe while finding fun lines to ski in nearly all conditions. We even had some great bluebird days, with guests enjoying our big alpine and glacier terrain. Long runs, great snow, and mountain views for miles have made spring skiing and riding really special!

That's the thing about heli skiing in Northern BC’s Skeena mountains. We have terrain to make the most of any weather and conditions. When the snowstorms move in hard (which they often do), we head to our trees & glades. And when the weather is clear, we go up high and enjoy the massive alpine & glaciers. It's a distinct advantage over most other Heli ops that have either one or the other.

While we sometimes like to brag about how great we are (ok, all the time)- the true measure is what our guests say. This season they’ve been wowed by the 5-star service of our lodge staff, our great Guides Team, and especially our culinary team. Our guests have told us our Chef and kitchen staff have really gone to the next level with the culinary experience and it surpasses the other lodges they’ve been to. Honoring our NEH Staff

Our staff makes the Northern Escape experience special. We train and encourage all staff to provide exceptional guest service. So we had a Contest to recognize which of our team members were truly going above and beyond. When a client went left a Review on Social Media- we asked them to mention the staff member by name who helped make their heliskiing holiday with us truly memorable. It was open to all staff including bartenders, kitchen staff, guides, and everyone who took care of our guests.

And the Winners for this year are:
1st. Ariel Bertho (server) $2000 Air Canada Voucher
2nd. Chris Girard (guide) $1000 Air Canada Voucher
3rd. Lacey Miller (massage) $500 Air Canada Voucher

Thank you again to all our guests and staff for another great season under our belt. We hope to see you again next winter, our 20th anniversary!
