Northern Escape Mountain Lodge
Opened in 2020, the chic new Mountain Lodge features stone work and hardwood floors throughout and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning alpine views in all directions. Amenities include massage room, hot tub, games room, comfortable lounge areas, and lightning-fast wifi. This exclusive, off-the-grid chalet has just 10 rooms all with ensuite bathrooms.
Our friendly, service-driven staff will ensure you have the vacation of a lifetime. And with five or more direct flights per day from Vancouver to Terrace, this is one of BC’s most accessible wilderness lodges.
The Skeena River and its tributaries are world renowned for steelhead fishing. This freshwater salmon can weigh up to 30 lbs and is one of the most sought after catches for keen anglers. Our professional guides have all the gear and local knowledge you’ll need to land the big one. Our proximity to the coast also allows guests to go ocean fishing for salmon or halibut in the rich waters of the north Pacific near Prince Rupert BC. Or for the ultimate luxury fishing experience, try heli fishing. With your own helicopter and guide you have the option to fish anywhere your heart desires.
The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary offers incredible opportunities to view grizzly bears in their natural habitat. The Khutzeymateen is Canada’s first Grizzly Bear sanctuary and is home to one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears in the country. Grizzly and black bears can also be seen in many of the rivers and estuaries outside the sanctuary and even near the lodge. This area is also home to the elusive kermode, or spirit bear.
A short jaunt to the coast allows guests to go whale watching for humpbacks and orcas. Experience these awe-inspiring gentle giants of the North Pacific in a remote and stunning location. North Coast whale watching is one of the most reliable locations to see whales in North America. You may spot grey whales feeding in kelp beds, or porpoises playfully gliding alongside the boat. Steller sea lions are common on the rocky islets and bald eagles watch you from towering cedars along the shoreline.
With a helicopter and guide, you have the ultimate freedom to roam the mountains and coastal fjords of the North. Spend the day in the Skeena Mountains trying heli fishing, or land on a remote mountain peak for a chef-prepared lunch. Explore glaciers and alpine lakes and go for a cool swim. Fly to the coast to go whale watching for the day or visit the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. Whatever you decide, this fully custom adventure is something you will never forget. Our highly trained helicopter pilots and guides have years of experience flying safely in these mountains and love to show guests their hidden gems. Let us help you design your ultimate heli adventure.
